Scrapping and V5C

Fortunately not scrapping the five, but the golf has had its day (18 years, 259500 miles).

As far as I can work out, if I tell the DVLA that I have scrapped the vehicle via the online form, then I don’t need to do anything with the yellow slip from the V5C except for keep it. Is that the case?

Thanks.

Scrap your vehicle without keeping any parts

  1. Apply to take the registration number off the vehicle if you want to keep it.

  2. Scrap your vehicle at an ATF. This is usually free.

  3. Give the ATF the vehicle log book (V5C), but keep the yellow ‘sell, transfer or part-exchange your vehicle to the motor trade’ section from it.

  4. Tell DVLA you’ve taken your vehicle to an ATF.

You can be fined £1,000 if you do not tell DVLA.
