Screen washer bottle brackets - renewal

Hi.  new member, and as far as I can see, a new topic, so if this is not in the right place on the forum - my apologies.  Following a side swipe to my wife’s well looked after 1997 Mk1, we have had the n/s front wing and door replaced (professionally).  No problem except she reported a weird scraping noise coming home from work last week, which turned out to be the plastic mud shield protecting the washer bottle having partly disconnected itself and was grinding on the wheel.  Further turned out, both parts of the washer bottle brackets had rusted through, so bottle was sitting free on the bottom of the nose cone.  I’ve temporarily restrained it with cable ties, and know I can get new brackets, but does anyone know if you have to remove the nose cone in order to fix these in, and how difficult is removal of the old screws etc. likely to be?  Also, it appears that the plastic shield is no longer available from Mazda.  Ours is completely graunched - does anyone have one to spare at a sensible price.  (Could collect within Sussex area).

Thanks for any help/advice

We have mud shield and ABS car type washer bottle with brackets. Most mx5 have washer bottle at rear of engine bay but cars with ABS braking have it behind front nose area.PM me if interested

I bought the (very expensive) new brackets from MX5parts and got the guys at Rustbuster in Spalding to fix them on when they had the car in for rustproofing treatment. I had a go doing it myself but the brackets were awkward to get at and the bolts were rusted solid…so I gave up. Rustbuster only charged me £30 for the job so clearly not too difficult with good access and the right equipment. I’m pretty sure they didn’t need to remove the nosecone etc.
