My car new to me has unmarked sills and as I’m going to be using it as a daily they wont stay that way for long so I’m thinking maybe get some scuff plates. My NA & NC had them and I just thought they were a standard fit. Of the few 30AE’s for sale I notice one has carbon fibre look plates, another the MX5 ones and another like mine has none.
I fancy the MX5 plates but what are folks thoughts on them I wonder?
Do they trap water and dirt, are they a bit naff.? I never really thought about them on the NC other than they were just there.
They do scratch getting in and out if you catch them.
They do bend out of shape if you are clumsy and lean on them. They are made of alloy and are fitted by sticking them to the plastic trim. This means that the plastic and the scuff plate will bend if you lean on it but only the plastic returns to its original shape. By careful manipulation you can reverse this but you will have to introduce more double-sided tape to re glue them.
They are very smart and I would get them again.
Thank you, they were done at Vinyl Destination in Barnsley using vinyl wrap.
I was present when they were done, Natasha is very good at her job, she’s won quite a few awards. She laid the wrap on top then cut out the centre section.
They also did the bonnet bulge, stripes on the outside and inside.
I watched her do the dash panel quite a skill

For the “bonnet bulge” vinyl - do you have a close up pic? Is it wearing well? Did you do to the outer edge of the indent, or the “inner edge”?
Anyone seen a aluminium silver NC Sport Graphite with the bonnet bulge done in the same graphite as the roof?
