Sealey PPVT or PPX Automotive Test Probe

Hi All, I still have a bad earth to my Starter motor relay feed and now a power draw flattening the battery. I am going to start to trace the issues and have identified either the Sealey PPVT  or PPX Automotive Test Probe. The PPX is about £23 and the PPVT is about £27, so only a few pound difference.

Is there much difference in themtechnically and what would you go for, or is there a better value one available?

Cheers

Derek

To be honest i wouldn’t bother with any of them, i have 2 of the red ones and 1 of the yellow ones on my van…all knackered within 12 months, why i still have them i don’t know, i should really throw them away…waste of money.
A very simple test probe does just as well.

Worth it’s weight in gold and used almost daily.

If you have to buy one go for the yellow one.

If there is a large parasitic drain on the battery when the car is standing, fair chance it is a rectifier problem on the alternator where one of the diodes has failed.

Easy test to check if you have a multimeter.

Just do diode(continuity) check from alternator case to main pole with loom wire removed. Should show reading of 500 - 1000 with leads one way round and around zero the other way around. With a diode down there will be readings in both directions indicating a problem.
