We sell mx bits and there are a few types of stalks. Some are fixed to tunnel at rear of seats, the holes are already drilled here, ,some are fitted directly to seat base so depending on the seats fitted we can supply what you need.A lot of lads with aftermarket seats fit the stalks attached directly to floor for handiness and easy to remove the seats for access, cleaning etc

The easiest way is to source some stalks from an early car. You will need to cut a hole in your R-Limited carpet and locate the transmission tunnel mounting point for the early stalks; it was retained in most of the later Mk1s (in some cases, there is a plastic cap over the hole). You will be left with a hole in the carpet where the 1.8 seatbelt brackets fit; I fitted a R-Limited carpet into my S-Limited, and used some spare scrap S-Limited carpet for patches, to make them less visible. When fitting the early stalks, you won’t be able to wire up the seatbelt buzzer/light.

The more involved method, which is the way to go if you want to keep your car correct, is to transfer the metal seat pan from your original seat to the new one. Takes a bit of work, but can be done. This will give you the additional bracket to fit your 1.8 stalks to.

You can see the bracket on this seat pan.

And if getting used stalks, make sure, nay insist, that the scrapyard sends you a matched pair. There are at least 3 different versions of the early stalk in use. Here are two different ones:
