I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Servicing
Hi, picked up a 2012 Kuro last week and now looking for recommendations for a local mx5 specialist to use for general servicing and repair, possibly a bit of track prep.
Mike Comber at Thrussington Garage runs a MX5 Race team (with lots of wins), with Mk1 and Mk3 cars. He’s fairly heavily booked, so pays to be flexible, and don’t assume he will always have a loaner. You can also arrange MOTs through him, an he now has the gas analyzers, which helps with diagnosing emissions issues. Prices are ok (I suppose competitive); don’t expect rock bottom prices. This is a developed business with 3-4 mechanics on the books.
I’ve used him now I suppose for at least 8 years for MX5s, but also the Jag (general servicing, auto gearbox service, suspension and braking repairs), so good for other makes, including, I see, old classics.
hi, i use thrussington and i live on the otherside of grantham!!
i took my NC there for underseal, fast road wheel alignment and oils change.
i was and am very happy with their work and will be taking my NC there again in march or april to get the engine tuned after its gets detuned for the MOT!
Been down and seen the chaps at Thrussington. Polite and helpful. Said the car seems a good buy except for tired suspension. Sort of expected this as it has done 100k as a daily.
I am now shopping for Coilovers and possibly bushes.
Based on current experience would certainly recommend giving them a go.
