Servicing

My 50k miles service is coming up and I was wondering if anybody has a breakdown of what’s involved in the service? I’ve had a look online but cant seem to find out any information

If anyone can help id appreciate it greatly

Cheers

This is a self help forum.

Can I suggest that you look in your owners manual to help yourself to that information.

It is more of a self abuse forum at times:-)

Assuming you do not have a service manual where servicing intervals and requirements would be clearly outlined, this is a good question and my online search has completely failed to answer.

Will have another look later.

Sorry Rob if someone does not respect the forum enough to get an owners manual they have to be advised to do so. Not abuse of the poster it’s a case of poster help yourself and being reminded of that.

Yes I do this and at times others on here should as well. I have over 400 thanks on the forum for helping those who have gone to the trouble of helping themselves but get stuck and in many cases have given both telephone support for those that help themselves and provide my own workshop to assist people who as I say help themselves.

Neither you or I would post such a request as we have the self respect to get the information from a manual or we would purchase one rather than say why go to the bother of finding the info when some well meaning people on line will do it for me.

Replace brake fluid and differential oil along with engine oil and oil filter according to my manaul

Eddie – this is Post number 1 for Henners96. You’re an intelligent man – can’t you see how rude and dismissive your reply – the first reply that this fellow MX-5 owner has received – is?

Yes, you’re vastly experienced in all aspects of the MX-5.  Yes, you’ve been thanked 408 times.  We understand and respect that.  But we’re trying to encourage and help fellow enthusiasts, not turn them away at the outset with rudeness.

If you walked into a pub, or a garage, or a shop, and received that sort of response to an innocent, well-meant question I daresay you would, quite rightly, never return.

I always respect and take notice of your down-to-earth, practical experience and advice.  I can’t abide your insufferable rudeness.

Sorry Henners – as a Mk1 devotee, I can’t answer your question.  But Welcome - I’m sure someone of good grace and humility will be along shortly with an answer.

OP doesn’t say what age the car is but certainly do the diff oil and brake fluid at the mileage quoted.

Of course we don’t know what’s been done previously, I’d add gear box oil change along with diff oil and if 10 yrs old a coolant change is needed.

Plugs get changed at around 60-62k miles apart from the above normal stuff like brakes, belts are checked/changed as recommended.

A call to your local Mazda garage should advise what needs doing.

Hi there - there is a full chart of service items, and what’s done on each service  in the NC ( mk3) downloads section of this forum. I think you have to be a paid up member to access this - but it’s well worth the money to join ( as well as the downloads you get magazines and discount off stuff, and even free tickets to racing ).

Mazda servicing is recorded electronically for NCs - so if your car has been serviced at Mazda it’s just a call to them and they can tell you what’s been done previously . If you’ve not managed to get hold of a service schedule before you ring they’ll probably be able to tell you what is listed at whatever service you think is due -  then it’s really down to you to deduce where you’re at and work out what you need doing.

Simples -

Sorry Eddie - my idea of a joke which has obviously fallen a bit flat.

Here is the NC service schedule…

As Eddie says, it is indeed in the owners manual as well as the service manual.
