Shock absorber mounts

My Mk1 failed its MOT recently due to among other things, the Bilstein shock absorber lower mounts, on the front of the car had deteriorated and how.

It would appear that the general perception of replacing this mount is, that you can’t, as they are not available, and you have to buy new ones. Not any more, they are now available thro’ Auto link.

Bilstein Shock Absorber Mount for Mk1 1988-1998 only. Price is £14.95 each +vat

I have just fitted them to my shockers and it was very easy using a vice and and a piece of thin wood to stop damaging them. I put the nylon insert in the shocker first then the steel tube into the nylon mount.

Do you mean the lower bush? I recall these are the same as fitted to a Mini Metro.

These Autolink bushes aren’t genuine Mazda, so you need to replace in pairs (you probably should anyhow)

For those ordering from the US, Summit Racing do replacements for $2 each

A set of 4 genuine Bilstein bushes are a bit cheaper from the Bilstein UK agent:
