I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: the best place to repair my car body
Hi all
I was recently in traffic incident where someone reversed into me. Thankfully the third party has accepted fault, and insurance (LV) will cover repairs. The pictures attached show damage to rear bumper on the left, including some after market parking sensors.
LV have forwarded UK Carbody to do the repairs.
Does anyone have experience of using them, and would you recommend? Or would you recommend going to a Mazda specialist and sucking up the cost of going outside of insurance recommendation?
I’d hate for UK Carbody to either do a bad job, or say they can’t fix it and so write it off.
I had a very similar accident in my MX-5 when I first got it, just bumper damaged. Maybe we had a cracked back lens. I didn’t need a courtesy car and I wasn’t willing to wait for the extended processs that insurance companies seem to use and wasn’t wanting my car to disappear to some anonymous inspector to be sat in the yard so I just got a quote from MX-5 city it was about £800 for full repair presented that to my insurance company and they said go ahead and they reclaimed the damages from the other insurance company all sorted and was repaired within two weeks. As palerider says above probably just a bumper swap , if wasn’t insurance now a days I would swap it myself.
Most of that will push out from behind, maybe with a little heat. Having said that you need to know if there’s any damage behind like clips or on the crash bar/rear boot panel. It’ll still need paint though I guess, just depends parts involved and where you take it of course as to costs. Hope it’s an easy one, I reckon (metallic copper red) is it, isn’t going to match easily?
YOu haven’t got to use their recommended garage.
I’m with LV and when some idiot clipped me, I used an official mazda approved bodyshop place. I paid no money, no excess, nothing. I explained on the phone that I;m not having anything but an official mazda place, and they were fine. They did no leg work though, no chasing up with the place etc, so it would be between you and the Mazda approved place to take the pictures, fit it in etc. They’d send off the pics etc to LV.
I’ve seen a car with less damage that the insurance company wrote off. I’ve had a couple of repairs done on my Copper Red NC and the paint match has been spot on. The photo shows an edge to edge match after a replacement front wing.
