Should there be a dipped headlight indicator on dashboard of NC (57 reg)?

Hi All,

I recently got a very shiny 57 reg MX-5 (NC, PRHT) and it’s wonderful! There’s one question that’s been niggling at the back of my brain for a while though:

Should there be a dipped headlight indicator on the dashboard when the headlights are turned on?

Every other car I’ve driven has had one, as far as I can remember, a little green symbol of a headlight. I have the correct blue indicator come on when the main beams are on, I just want to know if the indicator is not there, or if I have a faulty bulb? If someone else with an NC could let me know if they have a little green headlight indicator or not it would put my mind at ease.

Thanks!

Indy

In a word - No. The dash illumination comes on with the lights as some indication. I suspect you’ve only driven recent cars. To give my age away, we never had warning lights for dipped beams in the old days . JS

I agree, the answer is no.

Indication for high beam only, not sure what you’ve driven before? What you see is what your get on any car I’ve owned in the past.

Do you mean this? As said above, there is not such a light on a MK3

You are not thinking this?

Thanks everyone for putting my mind to rest, nice to know there’s nothing broken or missing.
