I was not aware that thwarted was a boating term! I always thought that thwarted meant something like ‘hopes dashed’. If it doesn’t mean that nd it is a boating term; exactly what am I saying when I say I was thwarted!?

Sorry to disappoint you but I think a fair few on here have been ‘ditched’ by their Fives 
In the nautical context, thwarted is the past tense of the verb to thwart, which is an ancient sexual practice involving the thwart of a boat, and usually a selection of vegetables. The victim is usually an apprentice - it started out with powder monkeys, and just hung around…
I like the idea, being new to the MX5 clubs etc… I’d like to get into events and runs… Plus, being a single guy it would be a good chance to meet someone…

I think the critical factor is: will the singles thread be amusing for those of us not involved with it? I suspect it will be hugely amusing, so maybe we should.
