Would like to change the rather pathetic sidelights in my NC2,
Can anyone recommend some LED’s that definitely work ? Otherwise I’ll just go for some better halogen bulbs
Thanks !

Just fitted these…
[NC/MK3 Front Sidelight Ultra Bright LED Replacement]
Definitely make a marked difference and work well with DRLs
I got some cheapish high power LED ones from Amazon that just fit. Standard ones are T5 or T10 but I found some T15 reverse light replacement LEDs just fit my NC2. They’re BRIGHT! Here’s a photo:
Here’s the type I bought:
I did lose one in the engine bay and had to do a couple 0-20-0 hard stops to get them to roll out again!
These work GREAT as DRLs - but I already have the common switchback indicator LEDs.
Looks good, how/where did you get the switchback functionality? There is more to it than just plugging some bulbs in, doesn’t the wiring need altered/updated?
These look great, just worried they’ll fail a MOT
Mine passed no issues - it’s not technically road legal but the sidelights aren’t mentioned in the MOT guidelines, other than them working (if I remember correctly).
I’ve got full LEDs everywhere, inside & out currently, except for the main headlights and main beam until I make some custom headlights.
I got AI to attempt to generate photos of what I have in mind with the parts I have currently:
The first two are the only ones that came out accurate but the others have elements I like. I’ve read through the MOT guides and these should pass. I’ve even got an MOT place who assures me the notorious grey area of decat manifolds WILL pass if there is a midpipe cat. You’re right to consider this though as I did spend a while digging into it!
Yes, I had to buy a cheap relay and wire it into the fusebox with an “add-a-fuse” tap.
It’s really easily and reversible, highly recommend!
Here’s an old video of mine working:
I’m confused !
Are you saying this are plug and play or not ?!
Sorry, the indicator function is plug and play - to wire in the sidelight function would need an adapter; and to wire in the DRL would need a few cheap electronic components. I can detail what’s needed if anyone is interested as it’s not complicated.
There are some other posts about this mod though. The DRL needs power from somewhere so cannot be plug and play by design. Our cars don’t have any DRL function as standard, except I think the new NDs might.
