Sill Stone chip paint

  1. My model of MX-5 is: 93 eunos
  2. I’m based near: Stratford on Avon
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Stone chip paint

Hi all,

Noticed recently after a couple of washes that the is some patching going on along the stone chip line. I originally thought it was faded. But it’s not starting to wear away, can literally scrape it with my finger.

To me it looks like the original black is under there and this is a protective coating applied many years ago over the top.

What do you reckon?

What’s the best way to deal with it as it’s obviously past it’s best if it’s coming off. Can I remove and go back to black or re apply fresh over the top.

Cheers Tom

I’d say that’s just rubbing away when you get in and out of the car.
Needs a refresh, easy enough with some masking tape and a rattle can satin black.

But first off…

I’d be inclined to get something like a ‘back to black’ type of spray on it, applied with a cloth.

I use this on black trim.

Mask it up and rattle can it with fresh satin black paint.
