Silverstone Festival 2023

Lack of choice; exactly!

I pointed out that when I bought the ticket the usual download was the headline option, and that if I had realised I needed to buy a phone smart enough to put their app on I would not have bothered to buy the ticket.

They changed the terms of the contract after purchase. This is unfair.

Fortunately, when I contacted them about it they were very helpful.

I’m waiting to see if I’ll need a phone to pick up the program I bought, although Luke said he would sort that too.

'Tis a poor effort by the organisers. I know of several people who dont have a smart phone…

I wonder if they have spotted the irony in their overly complicated means for delivering tickets…

In their covering email telling us we need another app, they justify it so we can “cut our carbon footprint and no need for reams of paper and printed e-tickets” (which itself is an oxymoron)

All very laudable…except they still post out the car tickets…

I’ve been going for 12 years+ and i dont think I’ve had the same process more than 2 years in succession :frowning: As above, if this is the new world, i shan’t be attending future events…

I have a pile of recent Octane, Classic and Sports Car and Motor Sport magazines free for any members who’d enjoy them . I will leave them in the club enclosure on Friday morning - help yourselves

I’ve managed to blag a last minute ticket for the Friday event through a work / partner corp do - i dont suppose there is any chance of displaying my car on the day? probably a silly questions and a straight no…

If your ticket includes an infield pass, sure thing come on in we’ll fit you on!

ah awesome - im not 100% sure what it includes it just has a QR code, i think the company bought around 30 tickets so shouldn’t have thought they paid for the ‘car club’ ones??

The passes to get your car infield are physical hangers to put in the windscreen

People tickets are digital only via the silly new app

Hey all, hope the weekend is going good.

I was supposed to be up there but got let down on tickets…hence reaching out on here, not expecting anything but thought I’d ask if anybody is deciding not to go tmrw and/or knows anyone with spare ticket /pass do let me know as I’m keen to come up

Cheers

Does anyone know what it costs for the club to attend?

No criticism of the cost but I have a query with another club I belong to…

I have messaged you.

MX-5 OC set up was smashing.

A great time had on the retro run

I finally found time to fill in the Silverstone Festival survey - we have until the 15th.

Most of it was the usual dross, but here and there it was useful to feed back comments on how a previously excellent first hand dive back into experiencing practical motoring history is drifting away into a gee-whiz banal funfair.

And I enjoyed carefully honing a polite but pointed comment on how the enforced dependence on the Silverstone App was objected to by about half those I spoke with while there, how only a few actually appreciated it, and many said they would delete it when they were home again.

And at the end it asked my age, insisting on a number instead of the usual age range. How rude. However, it accepted 700.
:grinning:

I enjoyed it hugely. It has always had a side show element, which isn’t for me, but which appeals to many. I go for the opportunity to enjoy over 1000 racing cars , often from very close quarters. I too replied to the survey - I was concerned about a perpetual gripe of mine - not enough grandstands are open at Village, just the one which gets very busy . Silverstone has become a pretty awful place to watch action on track and Village is one of the few spots where one is in the same time zone . My other and more fundamental gripe was the absurd attempts to stop pit garage access . Nobody took any notice and it was gratifying to see a driver acquaintance removing the signs and inviting the public in to see his Formula Juniors . If that access is removed I will not attend -simple as that .

As for the app I was twitchy , as I’ve twice had e-ticket problems but I was delighted to experience no issues .

Age… Bloody hell ,every survey asks for that. I am happy to admit to being a day younger than Vladimir Putin. But I haven’t felt the urge to invade anywhere. Yet …
