great video

i’ve watched some of his vids before, he’s really good.

i don’t think he says what size separator he uses though.

but thanks anyway.

I bought one many decades ago by eyeballing it. MX5 Parts, ILMotorsports etc.
offer a Mk1 specific tool and list the gap and range, other providers are available :grinning:

yeah i’ve seen the mx5 parts one, just trying to find a lower price lol
and also, does it have to be a 19mm one
theres loads of 20mm cheaper ones

How about eBay item number:155280148461 ? Haven’t personally used that one but can’t see why it wouldn’t fit /work.

I’m assuming that you’re only going to be separating a few, as opposed to setting up a ball joint separating business

For my NC, I separated all ball joints with a 2lb hammer and a sharp tap on the end of the thread

The size of 2 x 2lb Ball Peen hammers.

I used one like this on my Mk1 a couple weeks back. As long as the prongs that go under the steering rack arm that fits on the track rod end are not too thick it works fine and does not damage the rubber😉

I am with Nick D almost. I use a lump hammer behind and hit the other side with my favourite ball pein hammer always leave the nut in place to protect the threads. Its Shocking !!!
