Thank you. It’s brand new and as most databases take three days the MIB database might lag behind the DVLA showing up.
Hopefully I can sort it this evening but one I tried this morning has declined. The quote is valid but they will only issue a policy when it’s on the Database.
Hmm, maybe things have changed recently, but when I bought my Mazda3 in 2016 and then in 2023 the 25AE, it all happened within minutes after agreeing the purchase; all bank transfers and their confirmations.
I had already agreed with my insurers about the probability of the 25AE, but purchase and insurance and tax were effectively three clicks of the mouse on my laptop while sitting with the vendor.
My only surprise back in 2016 was how scarily easy it is to spend large chunks of cash on a bank transfer.
Naturally the paper docs took a couple of days in the post, but online confirmation was minutes.
I agree. I’ve juggled some big numbers around lately with just my phone to get this one.
Just waiting for a Taxi and will then find out if it’s on the Police Database by touring past all their cameras
In 2014 when I bought my Niseko, which had been off the road for six months, I remember driving very carefully all the way home from Frome to London in pouring rain.
Careful because the six-year-old BS tyres had zero grip.
Careful because new MOT, new insurance, new tax, new owner.
Careful because I was being hassled for sticking to the speed limit by a big fat Volvo tailgating me.
However even tip-toeing with right foot barely touching the pedals I left him standing in every one of the innumerable roundabouts. That confirmed me as a very happy MX-5 owner.
Fortunately that was the last month tax discs were issued, because on my way to my first owner’s club meeting a week or so later I was pulled over by the Police. The ANPR in their car said no MOT no tax, etc.
I pointed to the tax disc, and he then checked DVLA records directly on his phone, agreed the disc was valid, had a laugh, and let me go. Phew!
Just landed, I was running in but even then the car was popping along and little s bends were devoured with flair.
Still grinning.
My mate says it showed up on DVLA at 3.30pm but MIB shows the car exists but it’s marked NOT INSURED.
That’s with the Drive Away insurance still on it. Will have to sort it all tomorrow. Cheapest quote so far is 320 with all the bells and whistles except breakdown and keycare.
Flux quote is over double that and the highest I’ve had by far.
Day 2: today’s problems were either due to the value or they wouldn’t quote as my no claims is being used for my other car, some still can’t find the car and the cheapest quotes all had stupid amounts of excess added.
Got fed up, transferred my existing policy to the Mazda and put the cheapest I could find on the BMW.
I now have 2 beautiful and insured cars outside but my brain and my temper are too fried to drive them.
No worries. I think maybe the fact that it wasn’t on DVLA database made the algorithm think it was an import to get that number.
Incidentally the online forms ask Where did you hear about us?
I answered owners club as there wasn’t an option for the more honest Hot Car magazine circa 1973.
