Small leak identification

recently bought a mk2.5 as a project car. There is a small leak on the rear left of the engine cover with a sensor attached. The leak isn’t dripping but is staining the head cover. Just wondering what the sensor is and why it may be leaking.

I think that is the cam sensor - positioned differently on the VVT.

There should be an ‘O’ ring seal, perhaps it has failed.

Just undo the 10mm bolt and take a look.
