I was wondering how much snow foam liquid should need to be used to cover the car, I have got a new snow foam lance for the karcher and had quick play with it, it took about a third of a litre of concentrate to get the car covered, then when I was looking on the net for some more liquid I saw an ad for some that said use about 25-50ml a car so which is about right?
Which brand of foam are you using? I bought 5L of Mainz Equilibrium, although it makes masses and masses of foam, in order to get it to sit on the car I’m midi got about 1:3 - not exact.
It does make washing the car so much easier though. Having very poor circulation in my hands, it doesn’t do them any good being in and out of water on a cold day. Pressure wash, snow foam, pressure wash gets the car relatively clean until it’s mild enough to wash it properly.
The one I had was only a cheapy car plan one I got from asda to try, I didn’t dilute it either, it made a really nice thick foam though I was looking around on the net for some more and like everything it varies greatly in price hence the original question
I shall try diluting it and see how it goes, thanks for the replies
Agree with Ninja. About an inch. I don’t do it exact. In fact I usually put a bit less in my bottle as mx5s don’t need that much due to their size.
Inlike mainz products and not too far from where they are made but I couldn’t get on as much with equilibribrium Wilkey. Wasn’t bad but wasn’t as good as magifoam for me.
Ive actually stopped using snow foam now as I’ve found better pre cleaners which don’t make near as much mess or faff to set up.
Also so if anybody is ever Looking at snow foaming make sure you get a proper snow foam lance and not those cheapo ones that come free with the machines. They don’t work. Cheap snow foam also leaves a lot to be desired.
Also, it’s worth noting that if you live in a hard water area then you will need more product as the stuff in harder water doesn’t make as much foam as soft water does.
There are a few on the market but all of the proper lances seem to be much of muchness, often rebranded/different colours or bottles etc.
Autobrite direct sell a foam lance which was a little expensive last time I looked ( Over 40 pounds) although they do some good deals with their magifoam which I always found ok…
I’ll try and dig a link out to the one I had. I bought it direct from the guy who makes them but they are as good as the autobrite ones in my opinion. However, after a couple of years of use mine died. They are serviceable but to be honest I don’t bother any more as I’ve moved on from messy snow foam…
Thats a good price too. I think they have come down a few pounds since I bought mine 2 years ago. I paid around 26 pounds for it. As I said, they are serviceable. Not quite sure whats up with mine, I did take it to bits and soak the gaze filter in some bicarb soda solution for a couple of days but it didn’t seem to clear it. I guess I should probably just buy a new gaze which are about 1 pound.
Hi, with regard to pre cleaners. Do you have any recommendations for something better than snow foam that’s easier and less messy to use? After being parked up for a month or two in the winter the grit seems to build up on the paintwork. Anything that can help remove that before attempting a wash which is better than just rinsing with a hose would be good.
Valet Pro Citrus Pre-Wash it comes in concentrate so you will need a pump sprayer to spray it on to the lower panels. 1 litre is under £8.95 (concentrate)
I will tell you now if you ask in other places people will say Auto Finesse Citrus Power ultimately the two are pretty much the same result. 1 litre is £10 (ready to use)
The real difference between the two is down to the fact that Auto Finesse is ready to use and VP is a concentrate - however this just widens the gap in comparative cost terms and with AF you pay a lot of money for nothing more than water. Dilution ratio is about 1:10.
I think you can see where this is going as long as you are okay handling getting a pump sprayer and doing some ratios adding a little water buy the Valet Pro Citrus Pre-Wash, AF are far to expensive for a product that is ultimately doing the same for much less.
A new comer to thendetaling world. I Recieved some free trials to -well trial… lol
A company called power maxed. Now I don’t really use TFRs as they are not usually wax safe. This is in a different league of TFRs though. Works as effectively, one of the strongisT/ most efficient ive used and does not degrade LSPs what so ever. It can be diluted to various ratios. If you live in a hard water area you’d need a bit stronger dilution.
You would also need a garden pump sprayer. I’ve been using a cheapo one from my dads green house recently. This is cheaper than a snow foam lance though.
my only critism of it (and I’ve fed this back to the conpany) is the cheap branding/ packaging. If id not been given free samples to trial I wouldn’t have bought it. Obviously the packaging makes no odds to the performance. Cheap brands (think autosmart, car chem and neilsens etc) can have simple packaging that doesn’t cheapen them. Also the brand name power maxed reminds me of max power and the connotations of boy racers etc. I’ll stick some photos up of its performance. Can’t remember the normal price of it as I get trade price.
Thanks for that. I’ve had a read around and this stuff seems to get some very good reviews. I found someone on ebay selling a 5 Litre container for £20.48 inc delivery, which makes this just 41p a litre once diluted. I hope it’s as good as they say because I’ll have enough to last a good few years now.
