Soft top a bit stuck?

Lately it seems like the soft top gets a little bit stuck when folded. It doesn’t fold all the way down at first attempt, as if the rear window gets a bit stuck against the rear shelf or similar, but if you lift it back up again it usually goes down correctly on the next attempt. This wasn’t the case originally and seems to slowly get worse. Has anyone experienced this before?

Similarly there is lately something on the left side of the hood which seems to rattle a bit in some bumps. Coincidence?

Hmm, wonder if the rattle may be related to the new style bars recently installed? Must check. However, the hood issue started before the bars were installed.

Probably just the age of the hood. They shrink over time… Sometimes if they are warm they fold better…

The rattle might mean the cable has broken on that side and the spring is rattling about - perhaps this isn’t helping the folding problem (probably not connected).

But checking the style bar fitment would be a good start…

 Do you still have OEM TT style hoops fitted? When i had those i used M6 Allen head bolts to fix them in place as i couldn`t tighten the original screws enough to secure them properly.

If you sit in the car and look at the roof. as you lower it hold the rear bar forward, it should then lower correctly, until you get the cable fixed.

I had a look at this last weekend but couldn’t see anything wrong at all. However, what is this “cable” that was mentioned and where is it situated?

The rattle was quite bad this morning so I stopped and had a look. The seat belt clip was stuck between the seat and the interior and happily slapping against both. Corrected, now silent. Oops…  Embarassed
