Hi 

I have checked the electrical connections and they seem to be live and ok but no demisting takes place. Can the rear screen be replaced and where is the best place to go, I live in Cheshire

If the connections on the window are good it will be a break somewhere on the element.

Why not try a repair

Heated window replacement is likely to be an expensive compromise.

You say the connections seem to be live, are they? The demister needs an earth too, is that good? It’s unlikely that every element of the demister is faulty, have you checked for voltage along each bar of the demister?

Good point - the way these work means that each element that runs across the screen is fed independantly so if there were damage to one the others would still have a current feed and work. I found this u-tube video that explains how to test the heated rear window with a multimeter.

New window is a new hood, so worth spending time with a multimeter

I think there is a relay behind the drivers seat in the NA is this the case for the NB if so could be worth checking?

Yes, another good point Grumpy.

The relay is a B150 but probably located under the dash on one of the the main mounts rather than in the boot.

First test is to check if there is voltage as per the u-tube guidance video, link in my previous post.
