Soft top on Mazda MX5 Mk 3.

I bought my first MX5 in October and love it. I am a new member and so apologies if I have posted this message in the wrong part of the forum.

Love the MX5 but one problem -  when the soft top roof is in place, there is a slight bevelling upwards at the front centre position of the roof where it meets the top of the windscreen. This is in exactly the place where the catch mechanism behind the seats secures the roof when lowered.  I have had the roof straightened by a local MX5 specialist who said he had not seen this problem before and it was perfect…until I took the car out today and lowered the roof; when I closed it I found that it was once again slightly raised in the centre where it meets the top of the windscreen. Any ideas?

It is not bad enough to leak but looks a little unsightly.

Best wishes

If my memory serves me correctly, which it may not  I presume you’re talking mk1 or 2, there is a “sleeve” over the locating peg on the catches where they go into the receivers on the windscreen rail. If these are fubar’d or missing, they won’t let the softop fit correctly, these are, or were available from mx5parts. Not guaranteed to solve your problem but can’t harm.  There is a minimal amount of adjustment on the catches and receivers, so loosen the fixing screws, ease the catches/ receivers outwards and refix. Again every little bit helps. Excuse me if I’ve remembered all this incorrectly
