Hi Everyone,
Being a beautuful warm sunny day, Serena and I popped across to The Bird in Hand for Lunch in “Tanya the Tin Top” and had a chat with Naimh to finalise the booking for our Solent Area Christmas Meal.
The main points to note are;
The Maximum Numbers have been agreed at 40. We are already up to this number, so unfortunately we are not able to add any more to the list, going forward.
The deposit monies are nearly all in and I need to pay the venue by the 15th November. However, I will hold off until this date just in case anyone cannot make the meal for any reason and this will enable me to refund their deposit monies before I pay the venue. as I am afraid after the 15th November, deposit monies cannot be refunded.
On the day, you can pay for drinks as you go, or ask the venue to add them to your personal bill. I will be producing an A3 copy of the spreadsheet, with your orders on, for the venue to annotate and assist them in this process.
TIPS: As per last year, I will obtain a Pint Beer Mug from the Bar and this will be passed around the dining room for you to put in cash tips for the staff, at your discretion - so please remember to bring coins and notes with you on the day!
NB: Naimh has stated that tips will be deleted from being automatically added to your individual bills to facilitate the cash tip method.
The venue asked if we wanted name tags produced for each place setting and we said we will produce our usual place setting/festive boxes with each persons name and meal choices on, to assist the waiting staff.
Finally, the drive is approx 30 mins long and we will meet from 10:15 onwards, ready for a prompt 11:15 start from Bishops Waltham Central Car Park, Basingwell Street, Bishops Waltham SO32 1AR (What3Words: badge.bypasses.january).
We should arrive at the venue at approx 11:45/12:00 and have time to settle down before lunch is served at 12:30.

As a reminder, please remember to review your meal choices, as we will soon be submitting the spreadsheet to the venue and cannot gaurantee any changes can be made to your choices, once submitted. Post #67 in this thread refers.

Please could I ask that you all take a final look at your entries and let us know, by replying to this forum post/thread, of any discrepancies by the 8th November at the very latest, so we can ensure everything is good before submitting our orders to the venue
We have posted the latest spreadsheet in Post#1, which shows we are up to 41 members attending now, as we increased our numbers by one place, as there was only one place spare and it was unlikely that we would get someone to fill that one place. However, Cilla & Tony Davenport requested to join us and made our numbers 41, so all is good with the world

PANIC OVER - WE HAVE A NEW CHRISTMAS MEAL VENUE!!!

As many of you may have heard already, The Bird in Hand has closed its doors and a legal battle has started, therefore, they can no longer host our Christmas Meal on the 1st December
The staff and Chef are moving to another pub in Emsworth on the 21st November but we visited this venue today and decided that given the short timescale in taking on this new pub and given the car parking is sufficient the internal seating and layout, however, is not sufficient for our group.
We then drove up to The George Inn, Finchdean, as I had contacted them and a few other pubs just over a week ago, when this situation blew up and miraculously, they could fit us in on the 1st December and made a provisional booking
The manager sent us their Christmas Menu (given below) and the price is practically the same as The Bird in Hand and the menu looks good
Serena and I had a lovely lunch at The George Inn today and we checked out a few details with the Assistant Manager and a likely drive route etc. So, the upshot is, I am paying a £100 deposit tomorrow morning and I need your menu choices in the next few days please, as the 1st December is approaching fast!
