SOLENT AREA - Port Solent visit 20th July 2023

Hi everyone,

Here is the post for this years Port Solent visit.as per last year, the whole Waterfront Area, is for the sole use of Solent Area MX5OC Members, so the bit by Chiquito’s, Port Solent. This is better defined in the screen grab pasted below and highlighted, by Jason in Light Blue, which is Brilliant. :+1:

Jason has had 30 Ferraris parked in this area in the past, so there would be room in the blue highlighted area for at least 30 to 35 MX5’s, parked sensibly, so we should fit fairly easily

The plan is to have Terry and I parked down at the Waterfront, with the Solent Area Flag and to be joined by a good selection of MX5’s across the model range, i.e. Mk1, Mk2/2,5, Mk3/3.5/3.75 and Mk4’s for the public to view.

Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis and we will need a couple of Marshalls (please voulnteer if you can possibly help with this) to ensure that only Solent Area Members enter the Blue Highlighted Area, as others will have to park in the main car park.

If you wish to come along to this event and park by the Waterfront, please respond to this post soonest and book your place and you and your MX5 will be placed on our list (given below) on a first come first served basis.

Finally, the important thing to remember, is that once parked for 19:00, cars will not be allowed to move on Public Safety safety grounds, until after 21:00. So, members will need to ensure they are happy to stay past 21:00 and Jason will be there to ensure this rule is strictly adhered to on safety grounds.

Please aim to be at Port Solent for 18:00 in good time for Jason to guide us in and direct us to the assigned parking area

Hi Everyone,

We are just giving this one another nudge, as we only have four MX5’s signed up for this event so far.
It would be good if we could fill the Boardwalk Area at Port Solent, as we did last year and attract lots of people to view our MX5’s👍

Hi All,

For this one, we will meet at Port Solent for 18:00 (6pm) and park up in the rea that the Port Solent Car Meets are in adjacent to “David Lloyd” (the RED area highlighted in the coloured map in Post #1).

When Jason drives in, he will pick us up and lead us to the entrance gate to the boardwalk for us to park up.

Best Regards

Mal

Hi Everyone,

For info, the following details are from Jason, our host for the evening;

Port Solent Thursday Car Meets Rules

Arrival time 18.00 to 18.45
Place – Service Road B – last turning into car park. NB: Although, we will gather in the car park adjacent to David Lloyd until we see Jason arrive, as he needs to be first at the head of Service Road B, in order to open up the gate for us, to provide access to the boardwalk.

The meet will take place in the Port Solent Events area overlooking the Waterfront between the Watermark and Wildwood restaurants.

This is a purely static event where vehicles will have to be in place by 19.00 until 21.00. (Vehicles must not move until 21.00)
There is a £10 fee (this buys the Marshals a drink)
There are lots of bars, restaurants and cafes on site with fantastic marina views. Wildwood restaurants does offers(please ask on the night)
If you visit www.portsolent.com or the Port Solent Car meet facebook group you can see lots of photos of the events and the site itself.

In true Solent Area tradition, we will be asking each MX5 for £1 to go to the Marshalls for their valuable assistance on the night👍

As Jason has mentioned "Wildwood’ does offers and I know some members ate there last year and said it was very good. So, food for thought…if you pardon the pun😁

Hi Mal
Have to pull out of this one, now unable to go. Hope you can give my space to someone else.
David

Hi David,

Really sorry to hear that David, as it would have been good to have you along.

Best Regards

Mal

So due to an almighty great calendar misunderstanding Esther and I won’t be able to attend tomorrow.

On the plus side we’re having a lovely date night in Prezzo tonight followed by a trip to the cinema to see Indiana Jones

Have a good evening all!
Max

Have a great date night and sorry that you won’t be at the Port Solent gathering tonight (Thurs).

Hope to catch up soon😉
