Someone put a knife in my hood ?

well that is the only thing i can think of that has caused this (sorry for blurry mobile pic!)  only just noticed today , only two places this could have happened  at work  or at home.

I  am pretty sure it was done at home  and although i can’t prove it  by my nieghbour in the flat underneath me   they moved in a couple of months ago   and started playing their music loud  which stopped just as i was about to complain  and they haven’t done it since , now because they are converted flats  when they close their outside door to hard my flat shakes  this has got worse lately and  because it was winding me up i have shouted at them a few times  and banged on the floor once when it was slammed  shut really hard .

i think the husband is now doing this on purpose but the wife is just as bad as she doesnt work and is at home all day   they both smoke so they are in and out constantly having a smoke, i hasten to add before  i banged on the floor etc i did drop a polite note through their door mentioning the door slamming and the fact i try to keep the noise down in my flat as much as possible to try not to disturb them.

I am pretty sure it is the husband who has put the knife in my hood and of course i can’t prove this  i just wish i could as would call the police  and also the management agents and have them given notice, it’s putting me off getting a new hood in case someone  does it again :frowning:

 Its horrible when this happens.

A freind had a similar problem with a neighbour. Her car was scratched along the side after an argument over parking spaces. Although she didnt se him do it, she has sen him around her car.  She spoke to the local police.  They had a quiet word with the neighbour and also suggested that she got a video camera.

So far, she hasnt had any further problems.

Are they rented?  Maybe you could speak to their landlord too.

Are you sure that is a cut?

It looks like the damage from the material catching in the frame as the hood goes down. Put the hood down and watch the side, making sure no hood is getting between the 2 rearmost bars

It’s am easy fix, small amount of hood material glued on the inside

My Sister-in -law had similar punctures in the soft top of her Eunos, turned out to be Seagules pecking off bug`s that had settled on the top while parked up Cry

Had the same damage on my mk2 & my brother did on his mk2. Have also seen others mk2 with exactly the same cut in the same place so probably a problem with the mk2 hood.

thansk for the replies  i’ll have a check again  but i couldn’t see anything that it would catch on it looks like someone has taken a stanley knife and jabbed the blade into the side  i will have a look again on my day off

It doesn’t catch it is asplit due to folding wrong, and if you were to knife it you would make it bigger, or a small ome above your head if feeling nasty!

I think your relationship with the neighbours may be clouding your judgement. I 've seen a split there too often (see signature)

Sometimes it’s just some Ahole , Ive found a half burnt cigerette left on my vinal roof before, fortunatly it was out before any real dammage was done. Ive had half eaten Kebabs left on the bonnet, along with empty cans of alcohol, the latest was two men actually seen kicking variouse wing mirrors off the many parked cars in my street, and yes , mine copped for that too…Sometimes, it’s just some Ahole.

After read this thread I looked at my hood and can see the same mark on the inside of it.  Hasn’t gone through yet but monitoing closely.

Get some cloth duct tape on the inside where the mark is, several layers too, that will slow the wear from the inside. Its no good puttung tape on the outside once its worn through but you could save it from the inside without it looking terrible. You would need to keep replacing it every 4 or 5 weeks or so but it will only take moments Thumbs up

better still get a piece of hood vinyl and stick it on using evostick
