I’ll be fitting new coilovers to my NC2 in a few weeks (Tein Flex Z) so once they’re on and settled, I’ll be looking for somewhere for alignment.
Ideally I’d like somewhere like Roddisons, but that isn’t a 140-mile round trip. Especially if a few tweaks are required! Somewhere that knows MX-5s and can dial in some suitable ‘fast road’ settings for me.
Any suggestions nearby to Cheshire, nearby North Wales and Greater Manchester would be good. I’m 15 mins from Oulton Park to give you an idea of location
You could have a word with Colin at CS Haynes in Newcastle -u-Lyme but it’s a nice drive over the top to Sheffield and you could shop in Meadowhall while you wait.
To update, I visited Richard at TunedUK yesterday. Just outside of Wrexham in Llay, so around 40 mins from me.
Now feels much more settled and predictable. So I’d recommend them if you’re in this part of the world. They also came recommended on a number of other forums.
The guy who owns it must have got out the wrong side of bed when I went with my NC1 in November…
I took along the BLiNK printout from my previous alignment and he just laughed in my face with an attitude and said quite cockily “They’re absolutely no good to me…the settings I put on it will be nothing like that. I’ve worked in sports cars, touring cars and all sorts of other categories” and thrust my printout back to me. Ok I thought, guy knows his $h1t…
Gets the car on ramp for 20 minutes with the Hunter alignment machine and comes over after and says " I can’t improve on what it’s at" WHAT??? …You just told me you was Billy Big B@lls and you’re now saying you can’t find anything that might be outta whack ? I was only after a check up so…why all the guff about HIS settings in the first place ?
Surely he need not have quaffed all that out in his first sentence then. Suffice to say, I’ll not be darkening his workshop door EVER again or recommending him to anyone. The garage owner (we’ve probably all heard of from Wales) recommended him, so I reported back to him when I seen him down the line and he said he’d also heard same from others.
Reminded me just how good BLiNK were with my pride and joy when they looked after it…
As I said, it was for a check up only so as he found nothing a miss, the settings stayed “as wuz” so to speak, and I’m still on the BLiNK settings.
Cost me 55 quid for the pleasure of course…
