Sorry but

Hi all, i have sold our MX the other day and i will miss it but i had to make way for my new toy, i know im going to get slated for this

Awesome,  love it

Cheers Delpel

looks clean

mk4s were a bugger for rust but looks like you have a good one

Thanks Paul, yer its nice, it has had work done though but solid and rust free now

Nice looking motor. I think there are many desirable cars across multiple brands that MX5 owners would like to have. Whilst I love my MX5 if money was no object I would also like to own a Ford Escort MK1 Mexico and a Ford Escort MK2 RS2000. Nearest I got was a Ford Escort MK2 1600 Sport which I loved. Enjoy your car.

Had D plate and F plate XR3i Cabrios back in the day. Great fun.

Very nice looking classic you have there. How could we slate you for that.

I’ll stick my neck on the line too, it’s ‘cooler’ than most MX-5s.

Hmm, a white XR3i. Not the RS Turbo.

Made me think of this:

Good luck with it , I suppose, but ex-MX5 owners always come back.

Very nice.

Just watch out for that worn offside rear tyre. It was near the legal limit …

Blimey! That looks fresh.

I’d be seen in it no worries.

Prices of old Fords are going ballistic now.

If…some day my Mk1 had to go, it would be either a Monza 3ltr or preferrably a Capri 2.8i again for me.

There’s life after Hiroshima’s finest!

I was fortunate enough to own both of those when I was younger.        Mexico was white with the black Mexico stripes and the Mk2 RS2000 was a 1978 model so white with a black interior.     The later ones with the brown interiors didn’t appeal at all.

Also owned a Mk111 Escort RS Turbo, that is one car I really regret selling.

In fact any of those 70’s and 80’s RS Fords command crazy money nowadays.

V Nice  I had a couple of XR3’s bitd, great fun as I recall…

Hi all,

thanks for the comments

Love it !!! Had two of the Mk3 RS Turbos in White… When they bought out the facelift cars they deleted the alloy crossmembers and LSDs… Just a turbo XR3…

Wish I still had one of those RS cars now ! 130 BHP seemed so much more back then

Had a Sapphire Cosworth 2WD with 200 BHP. An amazing figure back in 1990. Today it’s bottom end hot hatch territory.

Had a Corolla ae86 rwd when my mates had xr3s gave them a hard time but would spin out on the lsd when pushed to much ! Happy days !

Yes had my share of hot Fords in the 1970s, but wish now I had kept the MK1 Twin Cam Lotus Escort I had in 1973. Needed constant tuning and sold it in the end for a Mexico, but both worth a fortune now ??

These classic Fords were great little cars. The only car I’ve ever bought brand new was a Ford Fiesta XR2 Mk1. That was back in early 1982 when I was based in RAF Germany. I loved that little car and kept it in pristine condition. I fitted a Janspeed exhaust system and it flew and sounded glorious. I intended to keep it long term but once we started a family (and had a dog) we needed something much bigger and owning two cars was not a financial option in those days. It almost broke mt heart to let it go - I had to buy a people carrier!

However, after three years I sold it for what I bought it for. A young lad came to view it and after a brief test drive he said he would give me the full asking price. His father turned up in a Porsche 928 with cash about half an hour later. Sadly, it seems to have disappeared from the DVLA register about six months after that… I suspect it ended up parked in a tree!

Now all these little Fords are becoming very desirable indeed and nostalgia sells for big money! There’s one Fiesta XR2 for which the owner was allegedly offered £30,000 and he turned it down!

Once owned an Escort 1300E 1972 model in metallic purple with a black vinyl roof.
In many ways (but not all) probably the best car I ever owned!
Well, there was no pesky engine management lights and so forth to worry about.
