When I turn on the ignition, even with the sound system off, I get a continuous loud noise coming from the sound system. It’s a bit like a machine gun, the frequency does not change with rpm it seems to be fixed. Turning on the radio makes no difference, the radio does not come on Aurally although the dash says that it’s on. The car is a 10 plate, sport tech model. If anyone can help me I would be very grateful.
Ps. Im new here, I did try to search but had no luck, possibly through presbytechnocompetence issues.
Given the spec of the vehicle it will indeed be the Bose amp having difficulties.
Have a look at this thread on the subject.
As others have posted, the amp is fubar’d. Bose repair experts, quoted in link by jingars, is the answer, roughly £170 with lifetime guarantee. Now I’m back from hols, it’s on my list to do as my amp (same year/model car as OP), has done the same unfortunately. Be aware, if trying a secondhand unit instead, the mk3 amp (2 plug) is not compatible with the mk3.5 unit (3 plug).

Two weeks ago had the same problem ---- to continue driving take out the radio fuse down on the passenger foot well . The amp is behind the drivers seat behind a panel and is easily removed as held with 4 by 10mm bolts and three electric sockets —found a firm in Edinburgh BOSE services that will repair with a life time warranty for £160 — back and forward by post —fit /fuse back in and away you go .I think it is a time failure thing as mine is a 2010 car.FINAL POINT --mine a retractable roof -for soft top amp may be behind passenger seat!
Hope this helps

Thanks very much all. I’ve removed the fuse, driving now a little more relaxing. Amp on its way to Edinburgh.
Great stuff, let us all know how you get on, not sent mine yet.
