The following postcodes come under the South East Area, we welcome all members whether you are in these postcode areas or not, come and say hello at one of our pub meets, we look forward to meeting you.
Unfortunately the RH postcode does come under South Central area, and not South East, sorry not my decision this is what the MX-5 OC committee have deemed this post code to come under. However any member is welcome at any South East event and we welcome all members from all postcode areas. Also you can choose which area you wish to come under when you join the club so look forward to continuing to see you at events in the South East Area .
Thanks for taking the time to reply to the post most appreciated
I live directly north of Paul Cleaver for example and yet my postcode would put me in South Central.
I changed my region to the SE at registration time, but I think it’s a shame that other members on the Eastern half of West Sussex (RH post code) would find themselves by default in the region where Southampton is the base (absolutely miles away).
Members in the RH postcode should clearly be in the SE section, and yet you could live in Haywards Heath or East Grinstead and be allocated to the South Central.
I wonder how many RH postcode members may not realise there are far more relevant events (especially those who rely on the printed newsletters). If the committee has made a mistake (and they clearly have) - why not fix it?
At present the SE monthly meets are being held in the South Central region since the pub has a RH postcode - that alone demonstrates how wrong the allocation is.
In fact nearly all of the SE region meets and trips kindly arranged by Paul Cleaver start and often finish in the RH postcode area…! Yet the OC members living in RH postcode would not automatically be informed of them!
Ref postcodes, decision made a long while ago by those who went before us all, hardly appropriate to describe it as a mistake…
Anyway, if an Area Coordinator wishes they can look to have the postcode allocation for their area changed. They need to do it in full agreement with the AC of the adjacent Area and then put it to the AC Liaison chap (me!) to check its all OK and help implement. We’ve done boundary realignments several times in the past to remove anomalies. None of this is cast in stone if it makes sense to amend it.
However I would not really favour adding any more members automatically into the South East Area without very serious consideration as its already a lot bigger than most other areas. And of course any member can move area if they so wish or attend any event, and a check through the membership lists may well prove that a lot have already made the switch as was the case with the last realignment we did.
