Special edition

Where can I find info as to wether my mx5 is a special? I was told it was a Nevada but they weren’t available in that colour.

2004 nbfl splash green

Tells me mines is a special edition on the registration documnets - not sure if that was done for all SEs though, I’ve also got a number & a name of the SE in the middle armrest

Sorry but there was no special edition that colour.

I think it’s a good colour, but not that many done

Most information is on the label on the bodywork where the drivers door shuts.

Take a photo and put up on here if possible.

Most special editions also have badges and/or a plaque but these have often been removed

I would also expect the original documentation to have notes of any special model designation.

http://www.mx5-mazda.co.uk/index.htm  shows all the special editions

This link is also a pretty comprehensive list of Special Editions (and more) that’s worth a peruse

Reading the description of the Nevada it came in two colours, Cerrion Silver and Strato Blue Mica.

With the limited and largely uninspiring colour range on the ND Splash Green would probably go down a storm if they offered it now.

While it’s a striking colour I would guess not many original purchasers were brave enough to order it from new.

You may not have a special edition but you probably have a rarer car than most of the specials anyway.

All MX5’s are special

Thanks for all the replies, it is a rare colour as I know of o my one other in the UK and none on the mx5i register. Unfortunately the door pillar sticker is missing as is the under bonnet one .

Thanks all

Only other thing I can suggest is to put up the full VIN number. Someone here will likely be able to check for you.

Other indicators of  special car are options such as 6 speed gearbox, limited slip differential, air conditioning, big brakes, etc.

More standard options like remote opening with fob, electric aerial and leather seats were fitted to a lot of these cars.

Is this splash green?

Yes.

It’s reserved for “Angela” as well, not that the world needs to know it.

If only Mazda would wakey wakey with colours.

It’s not a rare colour, seen a few out and about, strangely though it’s a colour not mentioned in my UK model guide.

This will only give you an approximate view on numbers:

https://www.miata.net/faq/production.html#How%20many%20of%20my%20color%20Miata%20were%20built?

Splash Green I think was only offered for one year. You can proxy UK numbers to the US, because broadly, tastes are similar.I could spend more time on some stats and build in weightage for, say, British preference for green cars. But roughly 6% of US MX5s in 2003 were Splash Green.

6,372 MX5s sold in the UK in 2004:
https://www.miata.net/faq/production/annual_sales_eu.pdf

Based on that, a reasonable estimate is that there were around 350-400 Splash Green MX5s sold in the UK during 2004. Might have to bump it a bit, to allow for the fact that, strangely, Mazda never offered a white NB in the UK; all the white Mk2s you see are either imports or resprays.

My wife bought a new mk2.5 sport in splash green, you certainly couldn’t lose it in a car park.

it really is a great colour , we love ours ,

Mine is Splash Green too and I love it - only 738 made in this colour so fairly rare.

Andrew

I saw a splash green MK2.5 parked in Kingsbridge(Fore Street) last week - anyone here enjoying a few days in South Devon?
