On a road I know well my audible speed camera warning decided to go ballistic today. Its the fancy new Mazda Connect one on the ND. I didn’t give it any cause as I was doing an indicated 40 in a 40 limit. usually I get one warning about 200 metres away and one at about 100m. But today it just got into a loop and wouldn’t stop repeating and also telling me to slow down. I’ve no idea why it should behave differently and I haven’t changed any settings. Quite freaky really!
Has anyone else noticed it or could it be me that’s going crazy?
The speed camera alert isn’t speed-related, as far as I’m aware, and should sound a warning however fast you’re going; officially it’s a safety warning and it certainly shouldn’t be looping. Back to the dealer for a software update, methinks. Have no idea what system the Mk4 uses, but TomTom updates the camera database on at least a weekly basis; when’s the last time yours was updated?
Version 65.00.320 is the latest version for MZD connect. You can check the version number under the right hand tab in the settings menu, scroll down to about. The latest update does fix quite a few little bugs.
Did you get a full set of manuals with your ND? If you did there should be one entitled “Connectivity Quick Start Guide” covering the MZD-Connect system. From p.8 covering the Navigation System it tells you how to update the info. on the car’s SD card using your own computer to get update downloads. Hope this is helpful.
Thanks for all the suggestions. The software is fully up to date. As I use this particular road regularly I can definitely say that the behaviour was abnormal and the only difference on this occasion was that it was cold enough to have the seat heating, rear demist and fan turned up.
Yes if it happens in a repeatable way I’ll take it back to the dealer.
