Sport Catalytic Convertor MK2.5vvt 2002

Good Day

Some advice please.  My Eaton M45 supercharger is up & running well, I am advised that the fitting of a Sport Cat will improve

the removal of exhaust gases especial so at higher rpm.  Has anybody fitted a Sport Cat to a MK2.5?  If so did you fit a

100 cell or 200 cell Sport Cat?  What supplier/manufacturer did you use?  Finally what diameter inlet & outlet of the Sport Cat

fits the MK2.5? Car has MX5Parts Cat back stainless steel system fitted. Any other advice on this subject would be useful.

(No, I do not want to de-cat the car).

Your help would be appreciated

Regards

Keith

Your Cat should be in the down-pipe so I’d be surprised if the Sports Cat actually fits.

Seen one or two “sports cats” fitted to Mk2. The ones I’ve seen had to be welded in. They lasted one MOT, the MOT they were first fitted on before they needed replacing. So I wouldn’t buy one…

Personally if I were running what you have, I’d get an exhaust custom made and forget all the others. Get it made someone who really knows and they can help you get what you need. The MX5 Parts items have been made for normal MX5s…

I’d also get a custom down-pipe made. Put a Cat in a separate section so that you can change it easily without messing around with the rest of the system. A standard MkK2 cat could be made up to fit.

None of this will be cheap…

Hello Mr Chrome
