Does anyone know where I can buy mx5 sport venture alloy wheels in bright silver like this ?20210103_164257|666x500
These look similar?
They are sport wheels mate not quite the same.
Saz they are the right wheel but more chrome finish than bright silver. Basically mazda damaged one and said they would replace it but the only one close they can get is the same wheel but Teflon colour, I can’t believe how hard it is especially for them.
Just a suggestion, get them to provide the right wheel and get them to pay a wheel restorer to paint it the right colour?
You won’t be able to tell the difference if they use a good one.
The wheel part number is 9965-80-7070. Unfortunately the part number has several versions of finish.
I know these have been ordered and supplied in the past by SG Petch mazda in Darlington so it might be an idea to have a word with their parts guy.
Ok thanks mk375 maybe worth giving them a call .
They did suggest that scarletpimpernel but I think mine have been painted so don’t think they will match one ,would stand out I reckon .
Ahh, sure you can come to a compromise somehow and perhaps have all four done to match, (with a little hand dug into your pocket).
EDIT- Perhaps the wheel restorer could match it to the same colour as your existing wheels.
From what you say, even if they find a new one it is going to look odd anyway. (as yours have been painted).
Hopefully you will get it sorted👍
craigrussell@sgpetch.com is the contact they recommend on their ebay page.
I have one boxed sitting in my boot right now! Long story, but I basically bought the wheel from an Ebay seller to replace the party dented and letting air out one on my Launch edition. They both have exact matching codes however this one is the wrong colour its from the venture sport so more of a silver grey than Silver.
So now I’m thinking of having it painted the match the Launch colour.
The launch wheels are chrome kind of finish aren’t they sparks ? I’m having a right game with mazda trying to source me the correct wheels its been going on since Christmas. I spoke to sg petch mazda earlier and he said he can get them in " Bright silver " original form then when I forwarded the info on to mazda I’m dealing with its the same part number as he used but we got sent the wheel in the Teflon colour.
I thought ‘bright silver’ would be the right colour for the launch edition. When I was searching I found 3 different colours, black, silver grey and bright silver but all the same part number .
The launch edition was more a polished chromey appearance, the venture generally bright silver and the sport venture a gunmetal silver but there are overlaps between the venture and sport venture.
As I said before the part number refers more to the casting shape than the colour finish.
Why not get SG Petch to confirm the colour on one of theirs and maybe send a photo before buying. Get your local mazda people to pay you back.
Wait, they damaged your wheel. That’s their problem, including refinishing all 4 wheels.
They were going to honour replacing the one then I was going to pay for the remaining 3 so I’ve got a brand new set but its proving difficult. Your right if they only one was done it would stand out like a sore thumb. The issue if they have one or all of them repainted is they are 60 miles away from me.
I’ve emailed them sg petch details with the item listing link and told them to contact them but they said its the same part number they used before and thats when they received the Teflon colour one. They are waiting for head mazda to help them find the part number/details for the bright silver one but I have no confidence in them to be honest
From experience and putting aside what has happened try and resolve the problem as best you can. Get it sorted to your satisfaction and move on. (Easier said than done I know).
Thanks
