Spring Rally 2012 What To Do In Cornwall in May *UPDATE 02.02.12*

There is considerable interest in the 2012 Spring Rally, Cornwall. Many opting to linger a while.

The Cornish Fives want you to enjoy your stay, and will over the coming weeks list events, ideas that may tick your box. You can then research, and add to your ‘must do & see’ list.


1. Minack Theatre. www.minack.com
The Minack brings live Theatre into perspective. A real chance to enjoy this memorable open air Theatre … in any weather, so go prepared !

Tickets are on sale, and will go very quickly.

May 17-19th Olympus a musical being promoted to coincide with the start of the 2012 Olympic Torch Relay* starting from Lands End on Sat.19th May.
May 23-24th. The Fishermans Friends of Port Issac

*We will target the Olympic Torch Relay event nearer the time.

Most know of this, but some good offers and saving discounts are available on line for any pre booking.

May 11-18th Finn Regatta week. A pre- Olympic 2012 sailing event with Ben Ainsley competing. Falmouth will be vibrant and alive with noise, colour and spectacle (see Falmouth Web Page)
Take an evening river cruise or pop over to St.Mawes on the regular passenger ferry.
Try River Fal link, Fal River or Enterprise Trips.

 4. Staying down south on the Lizard.
Take an evening stroll around Helford Village; visit Marconi Radio Centre, Poldhu; visit Church Cove or (NT) Lamorna Cove; Want a special place to have meal or a cuppa then try Housel Bay Hotel, or simply try Ann’s Pasties found in the Lizard village.

5. Staying in West Cornwall ?
Try a walk around Mullion Cove or Prussia Cove, stroll around Porthlevan harbour side or nip across & onto St.Michael’s Mount for that extra special visit; light the wick at Pendeen: visit the old mining areas of Botallock and Levant; stroll Cape Cornwall, discover Dinosaur Egg Beach; or simply meander around St.Ives.

Enjoy the myth of King Arthur’s Castle at Tintagel… Best viewed from the free coastal footpath path leading to Boscastle.

Join the surfing babes & dudes on Fistral, Watergate Bay, Polzeath, Crackington Haven, Widemouth or Bude.

14. Fireworks Bonanza.
Friday 18th May is a Firework Bonanza in Falmouth, approx.10pm. Celebratory ending of the National Fynn Class Week sailing regatta, before the teams head up the coast to the Olympic venue at Portland. Simply Park up in Falmouth and make your way down onto plaza near The National Maritime Museum. Enjoy the bars & food outlets while you wait for blast off. If it rains then it’ll happen on Saturday Night !
