Spring Rally 2017

I stay here http://www.legacy-hotels.co.uk/hotels/best-western-plus-angel-hotel-chippenham-wiltshire-wiltshire when I’m in the area on business. It’s a really nice hotel, will cope with a large group and plenty of options for dining out in town.

There are Premiere Inns at Chippenham, Trowbridge and a couple around Bristol, one even at Cribbs Causeway near the Mall.

I joined at the Donnington rally and am really looking forward to my second time meeting people and getting ideas for my nb. if anyone else is in Gloucestershire and would like to meet up before new year, let me know. Matt.

Patricia and Me have booked a hotel for Saturday Night, and looking forward to a long weekend away in such a great area…

Hello Matt

Have a look at    http://swm.mx5oc.co.uk/      join our forum and put a post on it.     We have an small run on New Years Day to a classic car meeting in the Cotswolds.   We are meeting in Gloucester     Sainsbury’s car park  Barnett Way    Barnwood     GL4 3RT

The Premier Inn, Chippenham is located approximately 3 miles south of J17 of the M4 on the A350. Very easy to find.  It is right next door to a Chef and Brewer pub and a BP filling station, Burger King etc . Both places will easily accommodate your numbers.

The Angel Hotel mentioned elsewhere is right in the town centre, a good hotel but probably a little more expensive. Not many decent restaurants in the town centre that would accommodate your numbers apart  from numerous curry houses. There is also a curry house within about 10-15 minutes walk of the Premier Inn. Most of the other dining options in the area are country pubs but that would involve driving. That said, I could give you numerous recommendations

If you are looking to visit Lacock then a drive or visit to the nearby village of Castle Combe is an absolute must.

(Moved down to the Chippenham area from Derbyshire in 1999 ??)

Probably a dumb question…

But what occurs at the spring rally?

Really looking forward to this years rally as I live in Bristol. Hopefully if my Mk1 is on the road and my Mk2.5, it will be a family outing of; MK1, MK2.5, Mk3, MK4 (Mk3 courtesy of my mum, MK4 courtesy of my father in law).

Anyone need any tips for travelling etc in Bristol, just get in contact, I know a few haunts and a few things have changed recently with the Bristol south link road.

Looking forward to it but have a question what’s different between this and the national.  is it more low key, less traders,

First national last year and really enjoyed it and looking forward to more of the same

Long weekend booked. First rally see how it goes.  NO Mx5 on the road so will stay at the back in the… other car ! ( No it isn’t sporty in any way )…

Not a lot of difference, bit smaller perhaps, well worth a visit though

Coolio,  deffo going as its just down the road albeit a 3 laner known as the M5 (Im in Gloucester) Fingers crossed for a nice sunny spring day

This is a largely a social event with additional activities to get involved with on the day.

Hi everyone,

My first post as a fully-fledged, completely signed-up member of the mx5oc community. We (officially it’s the Mrs’ car ) have a folding hard top 2011 MX-5 which is being taken in to the garage next week for its first service (during my ownership at least), and delighted that we’re entitled to a member discount.

And now to get back on topic, as I’ve literally just signed up, will I be receiving more details of what I should expect at the event? I’m definitely up for it, just need to work out how much saving up I’ll need to do.

Cheers everyone, very pleased to be here…

Welcome!

You just need to get there, as a member participation at the event is included in your membership.

Might be a small fee for a balloon ride if you fancy it. ( just working out the details on this for the next edition of the Club Magazine)

You’ll probably need your pennies for the MX-5 specialists - take a tour of the carpark for some ideas on what works for you on an MX-5 and then head down to the traders and order the parts you need

Cheers Iain, looking forward to it already!
