Squeaking birds nest coming from the underneath or rear

I have developed a very annoying sound coming from the rear or underneath of the car I cant tell for sure exactly where. The best way to describe the sound is an erratic squeaking. Sort of like a birds nest full chicks lol
I am running a Cobra exhaust which does produce a lot of extra vibration over the standard system so I looked at my exhaust hanger bushings to see if they had perished. They seemed ok so I gave them a good spray anyway with some silicone spray. At first I thought this solved the issue but now its back. The noise will only happen at exactly 2k revs nothing before or after, in gear and neutral. Most pronounced under engine breaking going down hill.
I have given the suspension the bounce test and am trying to find the squeak on my drive way but I cannot for the life of me think what it can be. Break pads are low but still have meat. I know what low pad sounds like which is more of a metal scraping. This sound is certainly not metal on metal. It may be wheel bearing but from my experience this is more of a droning sound. Im getting a trolly jack so I can get it up and have a proper look before having to surrender and give it to my mechanics. Only change to the car recently was all four wheels where removed for re conditioning.

Any ideas what this could be or any things to check? I have a feeling its something very simple how ever knowing my muck someone will say my LSD needs replacing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wheel Bearings?

Nothing adds up to bearings. The noise coming in at 2k revs I feel is the best clue. Its not at all speed related.

Could it be some kind of leak I noticed to mentioned engine braking small exhaust leak or perhaps if there is a cover on the tail pipe that might be vibrating

After 2k revs it completely disappears. The only time its really noticeable is engine breaking down hill but thats because it holds nicely on 2k revs doing this exactly when the sound comes.

Sorry I did see you mentioned that so have edited my post

Thank you for taking the time.

This is a strange one. I will have to get underneath to have a proper look.

When you sprayed the bushes did you also spray the engine and/or gearbox mountings, reading on a Google search this could be a cause of such a noise as engine speed related

Thats brilliant and makes sense. I will report back as soon as I can.

Is it a single or twin exit zorst?

Its the twin cobra street. Ive given the 4 hanger bushings a squirt with silicone grease. Didn’t solve it. Giving the exhaust a shake there is still a squeak. Looking further down the system I can see another bushing next to the Cat. I will jack the car up shortly and give that a good spray as well.
Any other input would be helpful. Ive not thought to look at the heat shield as I cant imagine it making a squeaking sound how ever I have been told this is something to check. Any ideas?

I would check that plastic tray that the soft top drops into. On my previous NC i had an annoying rattle/squeak at certain revs, but mainly when accelerating hard, then it went away. Remedy apart from stripping all that plastic out to sound proof was, i bought some foam pipe insulation and stuffed it around the front lip of the shelf.
Its been mentioned before about it rattling, where I picked the tip up about foam.:+1:

Check the exit supports off the back box to the pipes.

Thank you I will check everything I can see today.

Worth checking the rear anti-roll bushes too

Gave everything listed a squirt of lube and still not fixed.

I have noticed my rear pads are very low and the discs look like the original ones out of the factory.

I know what low pads sounds like and its not that noise. The sound doesn’t come until I have been driving for at least 5 minutes.

Starting to worry this could be Diff or gear box related

All gears are selecting fine and no issues with bite point. Just want answers now.

As far as the arb bushes go a squirt of lube won’t help, they need to be greased. As for the diff and gearbox try changing the oil.

It could be the rear most pads, if you haven’t seen the state of them to eliminate those??
