steffydogs MX-5 Mk2.5 2002/02

So after looking at quite a few, and a lot of help from PeteD , i bagged myself a MX-5 at the weekend 23.03.13

Typically it was miles away, 90 odd. Plus we had some lovely weather… snow and sleet etc, horrid, but she looked just the ticket for me, so i drove her home, then spent the rest of the day on a train to bring my old car back…

Spec wise, shes a 1.8i Sport 2002/02 finished in Sunlight Silver with matching Mazda Hard Top. 6 Speed box, 143 bhp engine, LSD, heated leather seats, 16" alloys, 6 CD double din head unit (CD’s huh?), 52k FSH, all books and bills, 4 new Pirelli’s, and a new mid n back box exhaust.

I’ve taken a few pics today, with the hard top still on, i’ll pull that off soon, and leave it in the garage with my matching silver bike, and my silver lid… What’s happend there?

Just a few mods to do, ordered a K&N Typhoon induction kit, a few new mats, plus i had her laser tracked today. I might pop a new head unit in too with iphone link/streaming, then a service, done!

I have also insured her with the mods, and Euro cover for 30 days, as i’m going to take my daughter away in it…soon, ish…

Look whats arrived today:

Looks great mate! Jealous you got the front fog’s too Thumbs up

As for your recent arrival, thats the daddy… Prepare to never want to change up a gear ever again Cool

How are you finding it all so far?

Pete

Car is nice, a bit noisey, but I think that’s the wind on the edges of the hardtop, I’ll have that off at the weekend so I can compare. That aside, the gearbox is nice, brakes feel very powerful, not that I’ve pressed them hard yet, she grips so well!

Note to ones self: must get the top off this weekend!

Certainly isnt the quietest car, but once the Typhoon is fitted you wont mind that Stick Tongue Out

Pete

The hardtop is certainly noisier than the soft top, hardtop now removed and stowed away. Cars very nice

A catch up:

Serviced just to freshen things up at the MX5 Restorer, good to met Garath

K&N Typhoon installed, phew, thats better!

Radio removed and Alpine double din head unit installed, with integrated Parrot phone kit, bluetooth streaming from iphone and a front usb, sorted!

Speakers changed twice, firstly Infinity 8023i with 8" cone, coaxials, very nice, but now replaced with Focal 165A1’s components…sub next?

Calipers all stripped and lubed

New front and rear brake pads, just because, and new coils at rear as one was fractured

Hood cleaned and prepped with AutoGlym, as with interior carpets, door, etc.

New leather gator on gear shift and hand brake, plus new satin handbrake and gear knob fitted

 Droppy eye vents sorted too…

Jees ive been busy, laser tracking, new mats, leather treatment…oh and lots of miles

Love this car, very jealous of the leather interior. Might look to put some leather seats in my 2.5 when I have the money.

Looks super clean Cool enjoyThumbs up
