Stick with my NC BBR or let temptation get the better of me?

Hi, I hope everyone has been enjoying this fab weather and it’s been top down all day!

Ok, my 2010 3.5 BBR 200 with Meister CRD and some other nice upgrades is quite a beauty. 3 years old to me today and with 47000 miles it really is a great car. However I have the itch for a ND and I’ve seen a rather great looking ND BBR turbo on Autotrader.

Also as good as the PHRT is I really fancy a soft top, so it’s red, soft top and BBR Turbo (plus other work) it really does appeal to me.

So if anyone has any thoughts on this please tell me, should I stay or should I go?

Buy it. I’m loving the ND and I’ve had every version.

I have a 2012 phrt with BBR 200 and Meister R’s plus lots of other nice bits too.

It would have to be a really special ND to tempt me out of mine.

I think once you have the super 200 kit and coilovers, there is not much that can beat it for driving fun and engagement.

But you didn’t come here for that. You came to be told to DO IT!!! Get the shiny new one. :sunglasses:

Thanks both, shiny new one has an asking price of 17k! No idea what mine is worth.

This one I presume?

No right or wrong call here. Heart says if you have the itch and the cash available, then do it! :+1:

Head would want to know the overall condition of the car, as the ad only really covers the mods/changes. What’s the service history like, how long has the BBR turbo setup been on there, how many miles covered, did the seller buy it like that etc etc - all the boring questions that are quite useful to know

Have you driven a standard ND as well? Just so you can make a valid comparison. If it’s close enough to go and have a look, or you’re prepared to travel just for an exploratory viewing, then let us know what you think!

Cheers,
Steve

Looks like a rather dirty engine bay, I’d be interested in the service history also. In my experience the turbo kit requires extra care and attention, I’ve had a few post-install issues with mine and I wouldn’t want to be running one without having an extent of mechanical awareness and being able to keep an eye on things.

Wardy5 had a damn good reply. I’d go with maybe asking BBR about turbo install, etc. Looks like a pretty hefty driver who may have done a lot of Vroom vrooming in the car sooo? BBR folk were at Compton Verney meet last week and seemed approachable & all round good guys. I do get how you feel tho: my dilemma is to keep my magic 2011 Kendo & buy a 2020+ metal roof MX as husband won’t let me keep my Kendo in the garage as it’s full of his classic ol’ TR’s (and bits of ex-kitchens - not to try and shame him or anything…) So yes. Kendo out in ever-raining west coast Wx. grumble grumble :unamused: Good luck!

Spot on Gareth.

I’d be extra interested in the owner’s servicing regime. Ask a non-leading ‘how often does the oil get changed?’ type question and gauge the reply…

It does not look like a cherished example in the advert…

Hi there🙂
I am kinda interested in buying BBR NC as now having 1.8 and fancy more power. My girlfriend wants auto transmission as this is the only way to for driving in London…:face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Go to BBR website and check enhanced NDs they have got for sale. BBR 190 in beautiful red is just £12k and more powerful are priced similar to your advert…:+1::slightly_smiling_face:

Yes that one and I thought that too re the bay. Yes I’d ask all the right questions and while a lot has been done to the car, 17K is a lot for a 2016 ND.

Also I’ve never driven a ND (or a Boxster) mainly because i’d worry I’d want one.

I’ve yet to ring Neil but I will. Ah yes my car lives outside too so I keep an eye on the roof seals . That said i want a soft top this time so I guess that will have to be maintained even more.

Yes a good lead in question. I’d imagine that the owner would answer correctly!

It does indeed and i do like a centre set of pipes!

I’ve really enjoyed the car and the 200 upgrade certainly enhances the car. I’ve checked the site and seen that, it looks not soul red though……

Yup My Mk2 had a mohair lid. I thought ‘nah. MOHAIR? Really?’ but it was! and it did a great job as wee car sat on the street right by the ocean. btw my Kendo does not have mohair. (I did think I might have needed a mooring for it in some NWly gales …)

Buy it! You want a soft top!

But yes, as mentioned, check the servicing. My suspicion, because he mentioned “fresh oil and filter fitted”, is that he’s been doing his own servicing. Looking forward to hearing what he says.

Doesnt wear its mile well. Seems an outdoor car with lots of rusty brackets and clips. Rear discs are shot . Who the hell uses nasty bolts on the rear plate like that !! Not a caring owner anyway. Could be a good car but service history is a big must. Depends on what you are happy with as a finished car you want to own. To me, the selling is the BBR kit, but the base car needs help to make it shine good.

A turboed ND with ‘that’ transmission.

Some people are far braver than I.
