Why don’t Mazda provide an useful accessory like a bin/pocket to keep your mobile phone (or other useful items) in that will fit in the slots provided for the stupid cup holders? It would be far more useful especially if it was designed to fit in the slot provided in the passenger footwel where it could be quite deep. For the life of me I also can’t understand why Mazda did not put a little trap door on the footwell slot like the ones in the mounting points between the seats. It looks really ugly and unfinished with that gaping hole
Couldn’t agree more. The lack of storage in the cockpit is absurd and those cupholders are a real abortion.
And what about having only one power socket and placing it where the passenger has to insert/retrieve it with their right foot?! Unbelievably inaccessible.
Surprised there’s not an accessory yet to use that hole, it does seem like a logical place.
My cup holders are somewhere in the garage where they went the day the car came home!
You have 2 (USB) power sockets in the dash, this seems to be the most required use for power these days.
I have my dash cam plugged in the passenger foot well, well hidden out of the way.
Good point about the USB outlets IanH though I have a couple of sticks with music on in them. Think I’ll go over to using my phone for music and free-off a USB port for the phone.
Cheers
I can understand what people say about the cup holders but personally I don’t have a problem with them. I quite like the ‘quirkiness’ of them and helps makes the car more ‘individual’. I do wonder why there is no glove box (there would appear to be a space there for one) but again, I use the cubbies behind the seats and all is well. I have plugged my speed camera detector into the passenger well power socket and manage to hide the lead behind the dash quite nicely. I use the USB’s for my ipod etc. My mobile phone sits conveniently in the cubby adjacent the USB’s.
My wife and I are both quite small which probably also helps with the small cockpit.
I’ve used mine similarly, for semi hard wired dash cams fore and aft.
No Glove Box. ???
That’s me out of the ND market then.
The wife keeps a stash of emergency mints in ours, where would she put them.
I plugged a wireless phone charger into the socket and ran the cable behind the console through a small hole I drilled. If I need to charge anything else I use the USB. I’ve a mate who makes leather bags and I’m thinking of getting him to make a thin storage bag to hang from the cupholder slot.
I’ve found a use for mine - bike (cycle) drinks bottles 500ml size - ideal.
Never mind That What about Four Cup Holders In a Two Seater Car (NC3)
What about it? Start another thread!
We’re talking ND here!
My old fashioned flip phone fits in the mounting point passenger side, got a small elastic stick on mesh thingy where the glove box should be, ok for err not found a use for it yet!!! Bit stingy not putting a map holder behind the seat backs.
Returning to the little blanks over the cup holder slots between the seats and the lack of blanks in the passenger side footwell cup holder slot. I actually thought that my passenger footwell cup holder slot was missing its blank and was in fact broken. Glad I read this, it’s saved me the embarrassment of raising the issue with my dealer.
I have put a couple of small black plastic cups that fit nicely into the cup holders. The cups were in fact dice tumblers the size of small drinks cups. I use them between the seats for coins, keys or sun glass cases. The sunglass cases do get i the way of opening the small cubby hole door between the seats though. But best use I could make of the cup holders.
Can I have two of yours there aren’t any in a NA
You can have two of mine
Thanks Jeff??
