Sunday, 12th September – RAF Museum, Hendon

By a lucky chance we are going on Battle of
Britain weekend, when there will a number of special events taking
place including a fly past by a Spitfire and Hurricane of the Battle of
Britain Memorial flight.

Entrance to the museum is free, but there is a car parking charge of £2.50 up to 3 hours or £3.50 up to 6 hours.

We have been here before and from what we remember it was great so would like to come along either just two of us in the ‘5’ or as a family in the ‘non 5’.

Just got to sort out the logistics (as ever) as Paula and I are out the night before at The Rocky Horror Picture Show therefore kids will be being looked after by someone which we have yet to organise. So, once I get my high heels, stockings and make up off after the show we can think on how best to scoop up the kids ready for an early start!

If we can organise this we will be meeting at the 127 Diner.

Looks like it could be just me and one of the monkeys now as the other one has a football match; there was me thinking their season doesn’t start until the following weekend but now they have a friendly!

Eric - does the museum know we are coming or are we just going to turn up? It’s not a massive amount of cars so far but they may help out with some allocated parking I guess.

No, the plan at the moment is we just turn up. It is quite a big car park and we only have about 14 cars going at the moment, so I don’t think there will be a problem parking.

Not too sure if  I’ve previously mentioned this one to you but YES I would like to come along to this and see you at A127 diner for a 0900 start.

May even be bringing along my ‘new ladyfriend’ (if I can convince her)!

I’ll be trying to gather people together at South Mimms. Look for a dark blue mark 2, I’ll try and locate myself in a quiet corner of the car park where I can be seen easily.

From South Mimms, we’ll be taking the straightforward route down the A1 to Mill Hill, then following the brown signs to the museum. If you’re bringing your satnav, you might want to take note of the advice on the museum website here.

Don’t forget to bring some change for the museum car park - £2.50 up to 3 hours, £3.50 up to 6 hours.
