I have a Nokia 100 phone, cheap and cheerful for emergencies! On the menu screen in the top left hand corner is a symbol for signal strength, looks like a champagne glass with vertical bars. Next to that is a symbol which resembles two circles joined by a bar at the bottom. Rather like an inverted pair of spectacles. Does anyone know what this indicates? There is no mention of it in the instruction book which is only a series of strip cartoons. I have downloaded the user guide which is exactly the same as the instruction book. I would just like to know, all information gratefully received.
Yes a voice mail. Might depend what carrier (orange, vodaphone etc) you are with as to what number you ring to retreive it. You’ll probably be charged for retrieving the message, so lets hope it’s a good one
Thankyou everyone for your help. Is voicemail the same thing as receiving a message? I get rather a lot of those from O2, usually about so called ‘free offers’ so I simply delete them. My apologies for asking what must seem a very simple question, in my view all this should be dealt with in the instruction book rather than assuming everyone knows these things.
Yes it is a recorded voice message left if you haven’t answered, or your phone was off when the call came in.
On another note, and this is a long shot, are there any maths teachers in your family? Just that I went to school in Haydock (not a million miles from you) in the mid 70s, and had a maths teacher called Mr.Peace.
Perhaps it’s telling you to put your glasses on before reading the instruction book. Ha Ha
If it’s not a voicemail indicator, it could be telling you that the amount of text messages your phone can store has been exceeded - try deleting some and see if the symbol disappears.
Hello Taff. Grange Hill! Dear me. Have you been reading the Beano again? I can assure you only the scratching of pen nibs on limitless supplies of paper ever disturbed my serene and tranquil surroundings! Wackford Squeeers, Mr. Creakle and Mr. Quelch were my role models!
Thankyou for your reply PierreBG. I have to put my glasses on to answer the phone these days, never mind reading the instruction book, so your comment is perhaps more relevant than you thought! I only have two texts on my phone, both fromO2 so I do not think I have exceeded capacity. However, I will delete them and see what happens. Just so annoying when the so called ‘instruction book’ seems to be anything but.
Thankyou for your reply Blog. I deleted the 02 texts, symbol remained. I dialled for voicemail, an automaton requested my voicemail pin! I do not have one, I surrender. If anyone needs to speak to me, they can ring back. If I owe them money, so much the better. Thankyou to all who have replied and tried to help.
