TA off... Permanently?

Hello. New here. 2017 RF Sport Nav. Small irritation with the radio which I cannot seem to fix. I want to switch the radio traffic announcements off, permanently, forever. Don’t need them.

Every time I start the car, at time point, a radio traffic announcement interrupts whatever I’m listening to. So I click on TA off on the screen and guess what, 10 minutes later, another one… And another…

I’ve RTFM but cannot find anything in there to help and I’ve also trawled through all sorts of settings menus and cannot find anything in there. In my other car, there’s a button which I press and it kills all traffic announcements permanently. Is this possible in an MX-5 or do I have to live with it? TIA.

In both the ND’s I have had 2016 and 2019 I have managed to turn off TA and it stays off.

I’m not entirely sure how I have achieved that which doesn’t help I’m sure…

I did read somewhere that the setting for it being off can look like the setting for it being on though can’t remember where that reference was.

Not much help really other than to say it is achievable…

I worked it out eventually. In the radio menu on the bottom of the touch screen, if it says “TA off” and the symbol is red, that actually means that TA is on. If you press it, so that the symbol is no longer red and it says “TA on”, it is in fact off, and it seems permanently, as I drove it for a couple of hours today, with no TA interupptions. Odd logic.
