Taking the MxTriss to Europe

Finally… having had the MX-5 for 12 months, the first euro trip is nearly booked and finalised for Easter time.

I was lucky enough to drive my last car (Evora) into 12 different countries in ownsership. now its time for the MX-5 to begin its journy with me too.

Some alpine roads are already closed for the winter, so the rute may look odd in the pic  but, its a trip via Germany and Switzerland, through the Alps to Austria then onto the capitals of Slovenia and Croatia - where we may pop into the Rimac factory for a tour, and then potter back again.

As with all things, any tips or points of interest always welcome, or any local traditions to sample.

Route (roughly)
– France

  • Germany (Stuttgart)
  • Furka Pass (Switzerland)
  • Dolomite Alpine Road (Italy)
  • Grossklockner (austria)
  • Ljubljana (slovenia)
  • Zagreb (Croatia)

Bummer you cant get a ferry from scotland lol. looong drive.

3,500 mile trip. Will need a service before i go, and when i get back.

We took ours down to Italy from Aberdeenshire earlier this year. Fantastic trip! Good luck and enjoy. :+1:

We’ll be driving Chicago to New Orleans in April/May. Not in a Miata though, unfortunately.

All the best for your trip! Looks like a fun route. Although something to consider is that in certain areas of the alps snow socks are required by law and you could be fined if you’re not carrying them. I think the mandatory period is between November 1st and march 31st. So bear that in mind.

Did just over 3200 miles this summer and can’t wait to go again!

That route looks great fun; I would’ve loved to have gone to Switzerland, but alas time just didn’t allow us to.

Enjoy, I hope all goes smoothly for you.

P.s. I only realised I’d forgotten to take my spare key on the trip, after we got back; fortunately it wasn’t needed, but…

Will the fashion police issue a fine if you don’t carry these?

No, but your travel insurance won’t pay out for frost bitten toes if you forget them!
