Hi all,
Prospective first time mx5 buyer looking at buying an NC2/NC3 here.
Having test driven an NC2 recently I was enamoured with the car. However, one potential issue became clear quite quickly, even with some seat adjustment during the test drive the top of my head was slightly pushed into the roof (PRHT). I’m 6’4" for reference.
I’ve seen the Jass seat lowering brackets are a potential workaround, but I’m reluctant to buy a car without certainty of fitting!
My question is has anyone here had a a similar experience, and if anyone has made these seat lowering adjustments would they be willing to let a (hopefully) future member of this club have a sit in their car to test the fit?
Thanks!
Sam
Yes, you can most likely adapt to Jass mounts. But you’re wise to try before you buy.
Hi Sam, I’m in Manchester rather than West Mids. But you’re very welcome to have a sit in mine if it helps. I found fitting the Jass lowering brackets made me a lot more comfortable in the car (I’m a little shorter than you, but all my height is in my back).

6’3 here with the 2.5 drop jass brackets in my NC1 (soft top rather than PRHT). I’d say they’re definitely worth it, they put me into a much better driving position and I’ve got tons of room above my head.
It’s a relatively simple DIY job, just make sure you’ve got decent quality drill bits for removing the original rivets and take your time when you’re cutting the sliders and it’ll all be good.

Thanks everyone for your responses and help, re-assuring to hear that there’s a chance an MX-5 could work out!
Hoping to be able to provide an update soon.
