Tan interior

I have a 96 Mk 1 Eunos. I am intending to convert the black interior to tan. I have some bits… carpets, door cards, centre console, but I need the bits for the dash and under-dash. Once I have got everything I will get a new hood and get my seats recovered.

  1. My model of MX-5 is: NA
  2. I’m based near: Heteford
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __

You need a complete dash from a V-Special, or use vinyl paint. Alternatively, have the dash trimmed in leather.

Centre console though is black in all models.

I’m in the midst of a similar project. There’s loads of videos on YouTube showing you how to re-trim your interior. There’s also plenty sites where you can buy material from. It can be quite an expensive endeavour, though, if you’re going for either real leather or alcantara. It’s quite straightforward to do, just make sure you give the surface you’re working on a wee sand down to give something for the adhesive/material to stick to. Am also doing a wee adaptation to the centre console- the drawer covering the cup holders has become a bit sticky with age so am making a cushion that’s also a new lid with a hinge. Should be quite comfy  Great thing is, you can be as creative as you want. My interior is tan leather with black plastic. Am keeping the tan bits but doing the plastic up with part leather/part alcantara and adding some tan stitching along the edges to accent. Depending on the thickness of the material you’re buying, you may also want to buy some kind of foam underlay to add a really luxurious feel in certain strategic points like the tops of the door cards, armrests etc…
Main thing is, have fun with it. Good luck!
