I would like to spend a couple of days exploring the Tarka trail between Bideford and Barnstable is there any member in that area who could recommend a good hotel or B&B (not too expensive) within a short distance of the trail.

I offer the following in case it is of use. Whilst there are undoubtedly closer places, the Fox and Hounds on the A386 between Okehampton and Tavistock can be throughly recommended. The drive up to the Tarka Trail would not take long as the road is good and in an MX5, most enjoyable! I live in Okehampton and use the pub regularly, it is right on the edge of Dartmoor which can be reached up the lane alongside the pub if the Tarka Trail has been completed.
