I want to tax my SORNed MX5 from the 1st April.
But this will be Easter Sunday and Post Offices are closed until Tuesday.
Anyone got an idea of how to make myself legal on that day?
(I have the MOT and insurance)

Thanks. I always thought you had to go to a Post office and show your docs.
I suppose if you get the MOT done early enough so it shows on the DVLA database, you’re OK.

Do not try to tax it (online) a few days early…they’ll back date it to the start of the month. I got caught last year and despite a promised refund, I never got it.
As long as it is insured and has an MOT then you can tax it simply online in about 2 minutes.
You can also change ownership details and also do SORN on line. Paying at the local Post Office does help them out on a financial basis but it is usually full of pensioners.

I’ll be doing exactly the same come 1st April, it’s been sorned Feb/March first time I’ve done it, I keep getting the urge to go for a blast.
I used to take all of my business to the local PO including car tax as loyalty, use it or lose it, not anymore. They closed the one I liked to use and kept open the one I hate using, I live or lived between the two. All done online now.
Can you do it on the phone any day any time as it is an automotive system. But as already mentioned it must be taxed and insure.
I keep mine on the road all year round cause you can have good days all year round and it doesn’t have to be good weather to put a smile on your face.

MoT test result appears on the database within a few minutes of the test being completed.
Mines also being taxed next Sunday morning. A month later than usual. Due to snow on March 1st this year, and a miserably cold start to the month.
I’m almost at the point that my 5 won’t be taxed to May this year. Available MOT dates are already hitting the middle of April plus the first two weeks of weather forecast is wet wet wet. So I think I’ll just chill for another month as I can get my kicks on the motorbike if needed.
Wet wet wet, so the weather is “Sweet little misery” until May.

Decided to do mine on line and by monthly direct debit haven’t got to worry about it then. I do use it all year, in between the bouts of snow and ice!
