Tech guru's help please 🙏

  1. My model of MX-5 is: __NC2
  2. I’m based near: __Lala land
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: _connecting Torque Pro
So, I’ve recently had an Atoto A6 fitted all works great, bought an ELM327 Bluetooth obd2, downloaded Torque Pro to my phone and my Atoto…
I can get it to work off the Atoto via the head units Bluetooth but, it then doesn’t play Spotify?
So I disconnect Torque pro from the head unit and spotify works.
I have tried android auto, it connects but, it doesn’t show Torque pro as one of my apps just Spotify, WhatsApp, maps etc.

I’m slowly losing the will.

How do I get them to work together oh clever people?

One other thing, when I had torque pro connected I was try to customise the gauges couldn’t see an oil pressure any idea’s guys an girls?

Many thanks

Torque Pro hasn’t worked on Android Auto since around 2020, if memory serves. Following Google updates to Android Auto and the developer clearly wasn’t bothered about updating app functionality, to make it work again.

So take a look at DashOBD, which should allow the OBD dongle to communicate with Android Auto and would hopefully give you the dashboard/gauge data you’re looking for:

Cheers Wardy, it does work but, not with the android auto setting or Bluetooth.
I’ll give dash obd a go, will it work with the Elm 327?

What doesn’t work with the Spotify side of things on the atoto

Yes, DashOBD states compatibility with the 327.

That is correct as our cars do not have that information available to display. There is no sender that is recording the actual oil pressure.

Just a guess but the elm327 dongle will be confused about what device to connect to when you switch on the ignition.

I would try deleting the elm327 pairing from your phone bluetooth settings first.

Make sure the head unit is paired with the elm327 dongle and use the torque app on the head unit.

Spotify and other phone apps are then accessed via android auto.

That is how mine is set up and all working properly.

Kinda guessed you’d have a clue Deano, I’ve come in from the cold now.
I’ll try again tomorrow, hoping it miraculously warms up 20 degrees overnight :slightly_smiling_face:

I knew the oem gauge wasn’t a true reading, I just thought it may pick up a guage related to the oem…it’s all new stuff to me :grimacing:

I think from reading the responses I’m confusing the obd2 dongle which when its connected it prevents spotify connecting.
I’m going to try @CBRDEANO advice, delete and start again.
I’ll report back

I’m not entirely sure what it is you’re trying to describe. The head unit is android, where you ought to be able to install Spotify directly to the head unit.
If you turn your phone in to a WiFi hotspot, then you should to be able to open, log in and run Spotify directly from the head unit with no requirement for android auto.
If you’re trying to play Spotify to the atoto via Bluetooth from your phone, then maybe check the Bluetooth setting on the atoto for the obd dongle. Check that it’s not trying to utilise audio.

Ok, just like Arnie💪🏻 I’m back, all sorted.
Many thank for all the responses and advice.
I think as @CBRDEANO said I must have been over bluetoothing, did as Deano said and everything is now working, I only need to change the dial colours tomorrow.
Thanks again chaps :facepunch:

There is apparently a work round to get Torque Pro to work with Android Auto.
It may be of particular interest to NC owners who use The “Mother of All” Torque Pro
Mode 22 PID file from mx5 miata net

Description and installation instructions here ;~

Usual disclaimers from me. My to do list just got longer.
