Tein Flex z's

  1. My model of MX-5 is: NC2
  2. I’m based near: Scotland
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: ride height

Evening all.

I have fitted Tein Flex Z’s on my 2011 NC Sport. Can someone please tell me how long they take to settle down. I have left everhthing as it came from Tein and the rear appears quite a bit lower than the front.

Wondering if they need more time to settle or whether i am going to have to adjust them.

Also does anyone run wheel spacers. Dropping it a bit has made the rear wheels look a bit lost in the arches.

Thanks
James

They should settle pretty quickly. Out of the box I found mine too high I think and adjusted them, however never had issues with big differences from back to front. Most important is to make sure all suspension bolts are re-tightened with the weight of the car on them/on its wheels so that bushings don’t bind and hang up the suspensions movement.

I found mine low at the rear after fitting.
I finally set the car at 340mm both ends but to achieve that needed three turns UP on the rear and 1 turn DOWN on the front.

215/45R17 tyres will help fill the arches when you next need tyres - it’s a popular size to move to.

340/340 is where I ended up on my old NC2 with Flex Zs. I specified that required height to my mechanic who fitted them, so not sure how that compares vs the ‘out of box’ height.

Settled down to around 335 after a few weeks, so then had it re-tweaked and the alignment setup :+1:

I gave mine three weeks to settle before final set up and alignment.
It was about 330 rear and 345 front before adjusting to the 340/340

Gave that a week - then got full alignment done

Thank you for all the replies.

I will leave them a week or so before adjusting.

Yep, I gave it 3 weeks and a good couple of hundred miles too - before setting final ride height and then getting the alignment setup :+1:

Oh, and do you need any rear adjusters for the Teins @brashhighlander ? I have some new ones that I never got around to fitting, before I sold my NC2.

You can see them fitted on Dean’s here:

Hi Steve

I would definitely be interested in them Please let drop me a private message to let me know how much you would like for them.

They’re definitely worth having, saves leaving the plastics off or removing them every time you want to make an adjustment :+1:
