Testing car alarm

  1. My model of MX-5 is: Mk3 1.8 2007
  2. I’m based near: Blackpool

Hi All
Can someone tell how to test the car alarm on my NC 2007 1.8.

Ive never heard it go off so would like to know if the siren/alarm works as expected, seems to turn on/off ok on the fob.

Open the drivers window, lock the car, wait for the security light to flash slowly then either reach in and pop the bonnet to test the bonnet switch, wave your arm around the centre console area to test the interior sensor or unlock and open the door to test the door switch.

Thanks

Opening the boot with the key when locked would probably set it off too.

Try leaving a mobile phone in the centre console, that will set it off.

My alarm goes off but seems to be silent. Look out for the hazards flashing.

It should set siren off, shouldn’t it

Yes, but I don’t know if it’s a siren or just the horn, although someone showed me a picture of the alarm siren box that my car doesn’t seem to have. It’s in the boot on the left hand side, I think.

Lock the car on the fob, leave a few minutes then unlock the door with the key instead of the fob. This is sure to set the alarm off. To stop the alarm insert key ignition and switch on.

Thanks all, I’ve just checked it, indicators flashing but no alarm sound, I assume its been disconected. So now how do I reconnect it. Theres also no movement sensor activating.

Are you testing the movement sensors with the top up or down?

I seem to remember that they are only active when the top is up…

The microwave sensor is under the storage box where the fuel flap release is, make sure you’re waving your arm in front of that. The alarm siren is in the boot on the left side behind the trims.

Siren in the boot was unplugged, reconnecting still.no sound.

Has anyone got a link to a alarm wiring diagram for a 2007 1.8 mx5

Afraid not. mellens.net/mazda/Mazda-Miata-2006-2007/index.html

There might be one in there somewhere but I never found it.

The mellens.net ones aren’t the best
