I made an half hearted attempt at painting the underside of the boot lid last year with a brush and some red enamel paint, wasn’t happy at all but it covered up the messy patches where the paint had flaked off, there were three areas which required attention.
Anyways it started flaking again so time to take drastic action with a Dremel. After grinding away down to clean metal I primed it, applied a finish coat of proper True Red and even a coat of lacquer, something lacking from factory on the underside of the boot lid. All blended in and a very good match to the original paint colour, happy with the result.
